The Sweet Springs Ambulance District Board met recently and discussed the financial status of the hospital building and the tax rate for debt service to the hospital building.

The financial report for the month of August showed the district expenses totaling $23,216.05, with revenue at $3,747.24. One rental payment from a lessee was included in the revenue amount for both August and September. During the meeting, Director Ron Vogelsmeier stated that the district is in the process of organizing an advisory group to assist in ideas and efforts to get more of the building occupied.

Vogelsmeier also explained that the tax rate for 2022, established by the Missouri State Auditor, will increase to reflect the rate set by the bond issue passed in 2021. The current rate for the debt service on the hospital is .2329 dollars per $100.00 assessed valuation. The new rate increases to .3895 dollars per $100.00 assessed valuation. Vogelsmeier explained that the increase is partially due to the ambulance district seeking to keep up to one year’s bond payment in reserve.
