Mary M. Kirchhoff, 88, of rural Nelson, MO, died Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Golden Oaks Assisted Living in rural Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Marshall.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church or Smith Chapel Cemetery in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born September 5, 1934, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Heying and Mary Maude French Heying.  On September 7, 1952 she married Calvin Harold Kirchhoff who preceded her in death on November 29, 2020.  Mary lived in rural Pettis County most of her life where she worked alongside her husband on the family farm.  In addition to working on the farm, Mary was a homemaker for her family and was active in their children’s school activities.  She served as a 4-H Leader, worked the election polls for many years and was a member of the “Old Hens Club.”  Mary was a longtime member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and assisted with Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include four daughters: Marsha Scheese (Ray) of Loveland, CO, Denise Irvine (Andy) of Barnett, MO, Loretta Crawford (Rick) of rural Marshall and Teresa Wells (John) of Cole Camp, MO; eight grandchildren, Scott Scheese (Bekah), James West (Meagen), Jana Halford (Matt), Heather McCracken (Jeff), Canaan Crawford (Shelby), Johnny Wells, Robert Wells (Waronya) and Victoria Goff (Michael); 15 great-grandchildren, Zane, Vander and Ezekeal Halford, Ainsley, Owen and Eghan McCracken, Karlee B., Kaylee and Colt Crawford, Silas, Thea and Calvin West, Brin, Reid and Dean Goff; two brothers, Ralph Heying (Jan) of Independence and Fred Heying of Slater; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one sister, Katie Davis (Tom); and a sister-in-law, Fran Heying.
