Robert J. “Bob” Kolks, 79, of Slater, died Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow, with Rev. Joshua Duncan officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in the Washington Cemetery in Glasgow.  Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M., with Prayers of the Rosary at 9:45 A.M. at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #78 or the V.F.W. Post #4367 in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born December 13, 1943 in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Francis “Frank” Kolks and Dixie Webb Kolks.  On October 12, 1969 in Slater, he married Josephine Suarez, and she survives of the home.

Also surviving is a son, Ron Sanders of Lenexa, Kansas; a granddaughter, Addisyn Sanders; and a sister, Shirley Campbell of Waxahachie, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his son, Frank W. Kolks; and two sisters.

Mr. Kolks was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow, and was a 1961 graduate of Glasgow High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era.  He retired after thirty-five years of service as a Superintendent with the U.S. Corps of Engineers Labor Force.  Following his retirement, he worked twelve years with MFA in Glasgow.
