New Marshall High School Boys Basketball Coach Michael Varner spoke to KMMO News about some of his goals and expectations for the upcoming season.

Varner was hired in September, replacing Lane Titus, who went 10-17 last season. Varner says he excited to begin and is ready for the challenge.

Varner says he’s been talking with some of his old coaches to help him prepare for this new role. He notes that he’s a fiery and passionate coach, and hopes to bring that energy to the team throughout the season.

Varner says his goal for the season is to see the team improve and get better throughout the season.

Marshall will compete in its jamboree on November 19. The Owls will open the season at home against Sweet Springs on Friday, November 22.
