
Karen Sue Ballew, 68, of Macon, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to Saline Animal League. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com
Karen was born on April 25, 1956, in Marshall, MO, the daughter of the late Harrison Thomas Walker and Dorothy Christine (Grandstaff) Walker. She was united in marriage to Larry Ballew on May 2, 1980, in Marshall. Karen worked at the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, squirrels and the neighborhood cats. Karen’s generosity continued beyond her death through the gift of organ donation.
Karen is survived by her husband, Larry Ballew of Macon; two children, Brian Dean Ballew of Macon, and Cathy Ballew and her fiancée John of Macon; two grandchildren, Delilia Ballew and her fiancé Spencer, William Perry, and a great-grandson on the way; one brother, Steve Walker of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Teresa Berwaldt and her husband Vince of Marshall, and Lana Crawford and her husband Sam of California, MO; and several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
