The longest-active tenured player on the Kansas City Royals roster will remain that way for the next two seasons.

The team announced a two-year deal with catcher Salvador Perez on Tuesday, Nov. 4 that will keep him in KC until the end of the 2027 season, replacing the 2026 option that was on Perez’ previous contract. Details about the contract were not released by the Royals, but sources tell MLB.com that the two-year deal is worth a guaranteed $25 million , including a $7 million signing bonus. The 35-year-old native of Venezuela just finished his 14th season in the majors, having spent all of them in Kansas City. Perez hit 30 homes runs last season with a slash line of .236/.284/.446, while also driving in 100 runs.
