The Saline County Commission approved a number of fund transfers during their regular session Wednesday, Nov. 5.
Commissioners Stephanie Gooden and Becky Plattner authorized the transfer of $162,992.50 in collected fines and forfeitures to the general fund and two other county funds. They also allocated $80,000 to the assessor’s fund, and formally disbursed economic development tax collections from the past year to the county’s municipalities. Commissioners also established a new fund to handle payments on the recently approved lease purchase agreement for the water treatment plant at the Marshall Junction, and approved a request from the recorder’s office to have an old computer and mapping cabinet destroyed. The commission also approved a certificate of completion for its 2019 lease certificates to fund the construction of water infrastructure at the junction.
Three weeks after opening the bids, the commission accepted the low bid submitted by Mera Excavating of Bonnots Mill for $951,018.62 to replace the Paw Paw Trail bridge north of Gilliam. Commissioners also approved the hiring of Stephanie Shannon as the new deputy recorder and Dakota Perkins fill a full-time position in the Sheriff’s Office. Vacation extension requests were granted to a pair of employees in the Road and Bridge Department.
During her report to commissioners, collector Cindi Sims announced that her office had collected $116,900.84 in October. She added that her office will mail the bills for most Saline County taxpayers Friday.
Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner was absent from Wednesday morning’s session.
