A member of Slater’s City Council announced his resignation prior to the council’s Tuesday meeting.

Ward 3 Councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem Matt Campbell tendered his resignation from his seat effective October 31. In a letter addressed to Mayor Terry Jordan and City Council, Campbell states that he “took a new expanded role at work which has led to a continued increase in actual and potential conflicts with my responsibilities as a council member.”

Campbell also expressed gratitude to his fellow council members, city staff, and members of the community for their trust and cooperation over the years. The council accepted Campbell’s resignation, then appointed Josh Knox to fill the vacancy.

Mayor Jordan also reminded residents and council members that sign-ups for the April 2026 election will be from December 2-30. The Mayor’s seat, four council seats (one from each ward), and Campbell’s unexpired term will all be on the ballot.
