The Concordia Board of Aldermen reviewed quotes for rehab work at the city’s North Lift Station during its meeting on Monday, March 2nd.
The board reviewed three quotes, but ultimately approved a quote from Smico Services to replace the station’s pump system with submersible pumps. City Administrator Dale Klussman says the pumps are more readily available and should be more accessible if future breaks occur.
The board approved the $88,000 quote. The other two options involved rehabilitating the existing pump or installing a completely new lift station.
Aldermen also gave approval to begin negotiations with the Concordia Fire Protection District for the appointment of the Emergency Management Director. Klussman says the district is more qualified to give recommendations regarding the Emergency Management Director’s appointment and contract.
The board then discussed the status of the city’s chlorine conversion, with Klussman reporting that preparation is already underway. The board also discussed an upcoming meeting with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to review ammonia limits. Klussman and Water Superintendent Joe Boynton will represent the city at that meeting on April 9th.
