The Moberly City Council took action Monday authorizing the replacement of a pump at the Rollins CSO Pump Station.

The pump station conveys water to the CSO basin during rain events that cause high flows. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey explains that one of the pumps at the station is at the end of its useful life, and immediate action was required by the council to avoid safety and operational issues.

The council accepted the proposed price of $169,247 from Vandevanter Engineering for the pump equipment. McGarvey notes the station will require a full upgrade due to its age and disrepair at some point in the future.

In other news, the council approved a resolution supporting the Police Department’s participation in the Missouri Blue Shield Grant Program. Moberly was one of the first communities to achieve the Blue Shield Designation in 2026. McGarvey says Police Chief Bobby Calvert is currently working on the grant application for the department.

Council members also approved the purchase of four new patrol vehicles for the Police Department at a cost of $41,000 each. Three vehicles will be used for standard patrol fleet replacement as part of the department’s ongoing vehicle rotation schedule, while one vehicle will be designated as a special purpose unit.
