The Concordia Board of Aldermen reviewed three bids for the city’s Residential Solid Waste contract during its meeting on Monday, April 6th.
The city received bids from RTS, Republic Services, and Constable Sanitation. City Administrator Dale Klussman explained the board didn’t make any formal decision on the bids and instead met with a representative from RTS to get an overview of the company and the services included in the bid.
Klussman says the board will meet with representatives from the other two companies during its next meeting. Klussman says the board will then award the contract during its first meeting in May. The new Residential Solid Waste contract would take effect October 1, 2026.
The board also passed a bill prohibiting what they call “corner cutting” in the city.
Aldermen also administered the Oath of Office to Sergeant Stephen Phillips, who will join the Concordia Police Department. The board’s next meeting is set for Monday, April 20th.
