The Carrollton Town Council continued to table an agreement that would have seen the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office take over the town’s law enforcement responsibilities.
The council reviewed the proposed ordinance during its meeting on Monday, June 1. The agreement would allow the city to contract with the Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services, including patrolling and the enforcement of certain municipal ordinances. Mayor Keith Higgins announced that there was no new information or contract for the council to review, so council members decided to keep the item tabled. The ordinance was first tabled during the council’s meeting on May 18.
In other news, council members approved an insurance quote for the municipal airport. The quote came from Tokio Marine Holdings, with a premises liability premium of $2,255 and a fuel premium of $150. Council members also approved a street closure for 5th Street Terrace for a block party on June 13th. The street will be closed from 6 to 9 p.m.
