Margaret A. Dugan, 94, of Sedalia, died Sunday, July 5, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her three daughters.
Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2026 from Noon until 1:00 P.M. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, followed by private family graveside services at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Candace Fowler officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
Born March 16, 1932 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Ashley Brookshire Wade and Hazel Marion Wade. On July 1, 1950, she married Gerald A. Dowdy, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1987. On June 15, 2002, she married William “Bill” Dugan, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2005.
She is survived by three daughters, Justin Morgan of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Jill Marie Serio of Nashville, Indiana, and Kay Beth Sincox of Wildwood, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dylan, Kellie, Kimberlie, Konnor, and Jillian; nine great-grandchildren, Reese, Kaiden, Sebastian, Chace, Coltyn, Vera, Graysen, River, and Charlie; a brother, Roland Glenn Wade of Flushing, New York; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Allen Dowdy; a grandson, Anthony Serio; a brother, Richard “Dick” Wade; and a sister, Becky Whitehouse.
Mrs. Dugan was a member of the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center in Sedalia. She was born and raised in Sedalia, and loved this community. She was a 1950 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. Following her husband’s retirement from the military, they returned to Sedalia. First and most importantly, Margaret was a devoted mother and homemaker. She served as the Children’s Librarian at the Sedalia Carnegie Library for a number of years. She was later Church Secretary at Wesley United Methodist Church, followed by her years of service as Secretary/Funeral Director at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. She volunteered many years with the Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary, having served as President. She sang in her church and community choirs. She traveled, read, and spent time with friends and family. Everywhere she went in town, she was greeted by friends.
