The Moberly City Council approved a bid for the demolition of grain towers on North Ault Street during its meeting on Monday, July 6.
The council reviewed seven bids during the meeting and accepted the low bid from Veit and Company in the amount of $375,000. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says contractors will begin in about 30 days and expect the demolition to take about a month.
In other news, the council authorized an application for a 2026 State Homeland Security Program Grant. McGarvey says the grant would be used to purchase radio and phone equipment for the Police Department’s SWAT vehicle.
The council also approved the appointments of Alanna Hughes to the Tourism Advisory Commission and Skylar Frazer to the Airport Advisory Board.
The council will next meet on Monday, July 20.
