The Concordia Board of Aldermen approved bills imposing minimum ages for the purchase of hemp-derived and Kratom intoxicants during its most recent meeting.

City Administrator Dale Klussman tells KMMO News that the ordinance not only requires customers to be 21 or older to purchase products with these two intoxicants, but these products also have to be handled and displayed the same way as alcohol.

 

In other news, the board tabled an ordinance establishing procedures to address delinquent Merchant Licenses. The board agreed in a previous meeting to eliminate license renewal penalties and instead require business to apply for a new license if they didn’t renew by May 31. Klussman says board members decided to table this ordinance on Monday to get more information about expenses.

 

Board members also tabled an ordinance establishing procedures for application and standards for the operation of taxi services. The board did scheduled special meetings on July 29 and 30 to conduct interviews relating to the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the wastewater facility plan.

The board’s next regular meeting will be held Monday, July 20.
