The Pettis County Commission took action on its proposed tax rates during its session Monday morning, voting to rollback the rate for the General Revenue Fund.

Presiding Commissioner Bill Taylor tells KMMO News that commissioners voted to lower the rate for the General Fund to by a quarter of a cent to provide some relief for residents in the county.

Taylor notes that the county’s revenue will remain about the same despite the lowered rate because of the increase in assessed valuation in 2026. He explains that the rate of $.0875 will now be locked in for the next two years because the commission approved the rollback during an even year.

The commission also maintained the Road and Bridge tax rate at $.2874 for 2026. Taylor says the commission then approved the rates for the Johnson Grass and Developmentally Disabled funds.
