The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works reviewed approved a motion to purchase materials for a roofing project during its meeting on Wednesday, September 9.

MMU’s electric production department is working on a roof and gutter replacement project on Unit 6, with the roof portion being performed by in-house staff. Electric Production Director Jarad Muller reported the cost of the materials has proven to be lower than expected, with quotes around $4,500. The board approved Muller’s recommendation to purchase the roofing materials using the quotes. After the roof portion is complete, the department will get quotes to replace the gutters.

In other news, MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom reported that Septagon mobilized and began work on the new Customer Connect Center on August 31. He also reported that staff continue to work with MPUA, City Utilities, and others towards North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) registration.
