sfcc-kaysinger

State Fair Community College will host seven Kaysinger Conference championship events on its Sedalia campus during the 2026-27 academic year, expanding a partnership between the college and area school districts.

The conference includes school districts in Cole Camp, Green Ridge, La Monte, Lincoln, Northwest, Otterville, Sacred Heart, Smithton, Stover and Windsor. SFCC and the Kaysinger Conference have been collaborating for over a decade, starting with the college hosting Kaysinger’s Conference Basketball Tournament at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center in Sedalia. Green Ridge Superintendent Jonathan Petersen tells KMMO News that discussions to expand the partnership grew after conference athletic directors struggled to address the logistical challenges of hosting complex, multi-school outdoor events for the Kaysinger Conference. With SFCC completing work on its new athletic complex, Petersen calls the expanded partnership a “no-brainer” for everyone involved.

Going forward, all of Kaysinger’s championship events will be held at SFCC’s facilities. Petersen says he’s grateful for the partnership and is excited to see all of Kaysinger’s tournaments be held at the college.

Championship events will begin with the boys soccer tournament October 5, 6 and 9 at the Roadrunner Athletic Complex, followed by the conference basketball tournaments January 28 through February 6 in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center. The conference softball tournament will be held April 24 and 26 at Ron Ditzfeld Field, while the baseball tournament will take place April 24, 27 and 30 at Charlie Marshall Field. The championship schedule will conclude with the conference track and field championships on May 3 at the Roadrunner Athletic Complex. Petersen notes that SFCC’s facilities offer a centralized location with weather-resistant turf fields to prevent rainouts and simplified scheduling.
