3. If the deal is just too good to be true, it is likely a scam;
4. People do not just call and offer you free money. There is always a scam;
5. People do not send you a check in the mail for no reason;
6. If they say your family member is in jail/court or the hospital, and they need money, call us and we will confirm this for you;
7. Take the time to investigate, call your family, friends or law enforcement and ask what they think before you act;
8. Scam callers are persistent….do not be afraid to just hang up;
9. No one, including the Sheriff, is coming to arrest you for not cooperating with the caller; and
10. If you receive an e-mail about lottery winnings, it is a scam.

If you feel you have been the victim of a scam, call your local law-enforcement agency.
