Stephen Kolek pitched a complete game shutout, helping the Kansas City Royals snap a four-game losing streak with 5-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners Saturday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.

Kolek allowed just four hits and a walk in the game, punching out two Seattle batters. He got all the run support he’s need in the first, when the Royals plated runs on a fielder’s choice, RBI groundout, and an RBI single from Jac Caglianone.

Carter Jensen added to the lead in the third with a sac-fly. Isaac Collins had an RBI single in the sixth to score the final run of the game.

Kolek picked up his third win of the season and has now pitched quality starts in eight of his nine games as a Royal.

The Royals improve to 21-31 on the season, still fourth in the AL Central and nine games back of the division lead. Up next, the Royals will go for the series win on Sunday, with Seth Lugo to face Bryan Woo. Pregame will begin at 12:30 p.m., with first pitch at 1:10 on KMMO AM 1300.
