A Bates City man charged with multiple sex-related felonies involving a juvenile has a court date scheduled this week in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says authorities learned that a 13-year-old girl allegedly had been engaged in sexual activity and other sexual acts with 45-year-old Larry R. Mansfield Jr. at a residence on the North Outer Road on November 12.
Mansfield reportedly denied the allegations, but was not willing to be cooperative in providing a swab of his hands for the alleged victim’s DNA.
A search warrant was obtained by authorities, and they allegedly collected several items of evidentiary value at Mansfield’s residence.
Online court documents say Mansfield has been charged with a Class C Felony for Child Molestation in the Third Degree- Child Less Than 14 Years Old; and two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Statutory Sodomy or Attempted Statutory Sodomy- Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old. Bond was set at $100,000, with certain conditions.
Online court documents also say Mansfield entered a plea of not guilty during an arraignment hearing on November 14, 2017, and his cause was continued with another arraignment hearing scheduled at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, at Lafayette County Circuit Court in Lexington.
