An area military wife who survived a nasty fall off the side of a mountain, spinal injury and subsequent surgery in 2007; and defied the odds to walk again has earned an accolade from her peers.
According to a news release, Stephanie J. Leiter, an Air Force spouse, has been selected as the Whiteman Air Force Base 2018-Armed Forces Insurance Base “Military Spouse of the Year” from more than 800 nominations.
As a base winner, Leiter is now eligible to be named the national winner. Voting to select a winner from each branch of the service will be held on February 20. For more information on voting, visit the website, www.msoy.militaryspouse.com.
The winners from each branch will be announced on February 23. Final voting from those winners will be conducted by a judging panel on March 2 to determine the overall winner, which will be announced at the USO-Metro Gala in Washington D.C. on May 10.
