A Richmond man who allegedly assaulted police officers and was in possession of controlled substances on June 14 has been charged with multiple felonies.
According to a probable-cause statement, a Henrietta Police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop and 34-year-old Marcus A. Shores sped away in the vehicle but then eventually stopped. During a pat down and search of Shores, he reportedly became aggressive, attempted to grab the front of the officer’s duty belt on several occasions and kicked officers.
Once Shores was on the ground and contained, officers say they found two bags of methamphetamine weighing a total of 30 grams; and a couple of different controlled pills.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued and Shores has been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana; a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest for a Felony; and three misdemeanors. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or licensed surety, no 10-percent allowed, with special unspecified conditions.
An initial hearing for Shores at Ray County Circuit Court is pending.
