Claude “Sam” Alvin Asbury, Sr., age 79, of Odessa, died on Friday, November 24, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, at First Baptist Church in Odessa. Burial will follow at Odessa City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice or First Baptist Church of Odessa. A dinner and time of fellowship will be held at the Lake Lafayette Community Center, 1001 Lafayette Dr., Odessa, MO, 64076 following the burial. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Asbury of Odessa; two children, Claude Alvin Asbury Jr., and wife Nancy Asbury of Odessa, and Treasa Howe and husband Mike Howe of Oak Grove; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one brother, James William Asbury and wife Susie of Lashmeet, West Virginia; two sisters, Carol Sue Brooks of Pineville, West Virginia and Shelby Jean Downs of Columbus, Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John Arnold and Maude Laurie (Ferris) Asbury, Sam was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Asbury; a granddaughter, Cierra Clark; six brothers, George, Harry, Robert, John, Jr., Don and Cecil Asbury; and one sister, Mildred Taylor.
