The Boonville City Council discussed the possibility of purchasing a new fire truck in the future during its meeting on Tuesday, January 2.
Boonville Fire Chief Tim Carmichael said the current ladder truck is showing its age and requires costly maintenance to keep it in service. Carmichael stated he had found several options for a new ladder truck, but added finding the right one can be tricky.

Carmichael gave the specifics of the ladder trucks, as well as the tentative prices that can change from day-to-day.

Carmichael added having a newer ladder truck might save money due to possible maintenance needed on an older truck. Carmichael said a brand-new ladder truck would cost over $1 million, but thinks the better deal is with a used truck.
The council did not decide to purchase any of the trucks, however, it acknowledged the Fire Department’s need for a new ladder truck and will make a decision during a future meeting.
