Bond for a Richmond resident who has been arrested and charged with a felony for alleged child abuse has been set at six figures.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were contacted by the Ray County Division of Family Services in regards to a child-abuse investigation on January 3. Authorities reportedly were told by DFS personnel a 1-year-old boy was admitted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City with severe bruising to his face and body. Medical personnel said the boy had suffered bruising extensive to his face/cheeks/forehead/temple area, ears, thighs and buttocks indicative of child physical abuse.
Online court documents say 18-year-old Vince Eugene Hicks has been charged with a Class A Felony Abuse of a Child, Causing Serious Physical Injury- No Sexual Contact. Bond has been set at $200,000, with special unspecified conditions.
Hicks’ initial hearing at Ray County Circuit Court in Richmond is pending.
