A Sweet Springs man who allegedly resisted arrest by fleeing law enforcement on September 22, 2017, has been charged with a felony in Saline County.
According to a probable-cause statement, a law-enforcement officer attempted to make a traffic stop on Highway 127, but the driver of the vehicle reportedly turned around in a private driveway and drove his vehicle back toward the officer’s car. The officer turned around his vehicle and continued the pursuit which reportedly reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The vehicle being pursued reportedly turned onto Route W and allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, traveled a little more than two miles and then stopped.
Online court documents say 34-year-old Christopher Joseph Miller has been charged with a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing, Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Physical Injury or Death to Any Person and a couple of driving-related misdemeanors. Bond was set at $5,000 cash, surety or 10-percent approved.
