During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, January 11, Sheriff Cindi Mullins reported her agency’s new website is up and fully operational.
As for the email and text alerts, a news release from Mullins says they will pertain to emergency-related messages, such as road closings, utility outages and other information of which county residents need to be aware. She says the system has been opened up for the county emergency management and municipalities to use, as well. But she says all messages will generate from the sheriff’s department.
Mullins gave some details of some of the information that is available on the new website.
Mullins went on to say the sheriff’s office is working with the phone provider and commissary system in order to allow inmates to buy phone time in-house, which she says will allow them to call out without having to call collect.

In other news, it was announced by Northern District Commissioner Richard Clemens that all county offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
