An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death of a woman who was incarcerated at the Lafayette County Jail last week.
According to a news release, 44-year-old Alecia R. Clemmons, of Lee’s Summit, was pronounced dead by the Lafayette County Coroner after being found unresponsive in her jail cell on the afternoon of Monday, January 8, 2018.
The release says she reportedly was alone in her cell, with the door closed, and was discovered with a handmade noose made out of strips of a T-shirt wrapped around her neck.
An investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding her death, but at this time authorities do not expect foul play was involved.
