The Slater City Council announced who will be running for council seats during the April Municipal Election, as well as scheduled the date for this years Steve McQueen Day during a regular-session meeting on Tuesday, January 16.
City Administrator Gene Griffith said the only filings received at the deadline were from the incumbents.

City Attorney Douglas Harris said the election of Slater City Council members is still to be put before the voters, even though the incumbents are running unopposed. Harris added only smaller-sized communities have a provision to forgo an election of only incumbents.
In other business, Griffith said the date for Steve McQueen Day is usually set sometime in April, but believes a date in June would be better this year.

After further discussion, the council decided to scheduled Steve McQueen Day on Saturday, June 16.
