Three persons were arrested, and each has been charged with at least one felony after a traffic stop in Fayette on Monday, January 15.
According to a probable-cause statement, a baggie with methamphetamine, a glass pipe, a silver in color cylindrical container with methamphetamine in it, a back pack containing another baggie of methamphetamine allegedly were uncovered by authorities. While the law-enforcement officer was away from the vehicle, a subject allegedly ran from the vehicle, as well. He later was apprehended at a residence.
According to online court documents, 42-year-old Theodus Whitley Sr., of Fayette, has been charged with a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest for a Felony. Each of the three occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, Christy Renee Whittington, of Orlando, Florida, and 49-year-old Paul Douglas Burstert, of Columbia, has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana. Burstert also has been charged with a drug-related misdemeanor. Cash-only bond for each Whittington, whose age is not available, and Burstert has been set at $10,000 and $20,000 for Whitley.
Each of the three defendants is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, at Howard County Circuit Court in Fayette.
