Personnel from multiple area fire departments battled cold temperatures and a structure blaze in Saline County for a couple of hours on Wednesday, January 17.
According to West Central of Blackburn Fire Chief Bill Kellerman, the fire was reported by a truck driver passing by just before 12:30 p.m. Once fire fighters arrived on the scene, the structure in the 20500 block of Alfalfa Avenue was fully involved.
Kellerman said fire fighters cleared the scene at about 2:30 p.m.
Kellerman also said the West Central Station in Sweet Springs and the Alma Fire Department aided in dousing the blaze with personnel and equipment.
Kellerman said the resident was not at home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. The property was deemed a total loss, however no dollar figure has been determined.
Kellerman said the state fire marshal has been notified, but he doesn’t think the fire was suspicious in nature.
