A Clinton man accused of shooting to death a Henry County law-enforcement officer and entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on August 11, 2017, is scheduled to appear for another arraignment hearing on Monday, January 22.
According to online court documents, 39-year-old Ian McCarthy has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the First Degree and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Updated charges also include a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Authorities allege McCarthy shot to death 37-year-old Clinton Police officer Gary Michael on August 6, 2017.
McCarthy is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. at Henry County Circuit Court in Clinton.
