A suspect wanted in connection with an area homicide case is behind bars.
According to a post on the Sedalia Police Department’s Facebook page, 28-year-old Justin K. Lewis turned himself into authorities and was taken into custody without incident on Sunday, January 21.
Lewis is wanted in connection with the stabbing death of 33-year-old Heather McClellan.
According to a previous post on the police department’s Facebook page, the Pettis County Prosecutor obtained a warrant for the arrest of Lewis on Friday, January 19.
On Sunday, January 14, officers and ambulance personnel were dispatched to an apartment on East 7th Street in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, medical aid reportedly was rendered to McClellan, who was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center, where she later died from apparent stab wounds.
According to the most-recent post, Lewis currently is being held at the Pettis County Jail on charges of Second-Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Bond has been set at $500,000.
Lewis’ initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court in Sedalia is pending.
