A Warrensburg man who is charged with multiple felonies for alleged child abuse in Johnson County in 2017 is due to appear in court this week.
A probable-cause statement says on April 3, 2017, 39-year-old Robert L. Brown allegedly had locked two juveniles in their rooms using padlocks. On May 11, 2017, law enforcement spoke with one of the juveniles, who reportedly disclosed that Brown allegedly had committed multiple sexual acts on different occasions on each alleged victim.
According to online court documents, Brown faces seven counts of an Unclassified Felony for First-Degree Statutory Sodomy- Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less than 14 years old and two counts of an Unclassified Felony for First-Degree Statutory Sodomy- Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less than 12 years old. During his arraignment hearing on June 12, Brown reportedly entered a plea of not guilty.
A propensity-evidence hearing in Brown’s case is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 22.
Brown’s jury trial– which originally was set to begin on December 12– has been pushed back and now is slated to start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at the Johnson County Justice Center in Warrensburg.
