The Sweet Springs R-7 School Board selected an area resident to be the district’s new superintendent during a closed-session meeting on Wednesday, January 24.
According to a news release, the board offered the superintendent position to Lori Price, of Slater, who graduated from Sweet Spring R-7 in 1998. Price earned a Bachelors Degree in Spanish Education from Central Missouri in May 2003; a Masters Degree in Education Administration from William Woods University in May 2010; and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from William Woods University in December 2013.
Price was a teacher at several area schools including: Marshall High School from 2003 to 2007; Lafayette County C-1 High School from 2008-2010; Bueker Middle School from 2010-2012; and has been the principal and superintendent of the Miami R-1 School District since July 2012.
After being offered the superintendent position at Sweet Springs R-7, Price accepted a two-year deal with a beginning salary of $82,500, with the contract ending on June 30, 2020. She will take over for current superintendent Donna Wright on July 1, 2018.
