An area fire department’s personnel were called out to douse three fires on Friday.
According to a release from Pettis County Fire Protection District Chief Mike Harding, personnel responded to a grass fire at 27042 Griessen road at 11:31 a.m.
Fire fighters were on the scene for about four hours, and the blaze charred approximately 40 acres and several fence lines. Several structures reportedly were threatened by the blaze. Fire fighters believe the fire was caused by a brush fire, and with the high winds, the fire spread fast and jumped a roadway.
Pettis County Fire was helped at the scene by mutual-aid from the Sedalia Fire Department.
The second call was a mutual-aid from the Lake Creek Fire Department on Pacific School Road. During that call, fire fighters battled a fire in a 50-acre field and heavy tree line. They were on the scene for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. No other information is available at this time about that fire.
Pettis County Fire Protection District fire fighters also were dispatched at 6:15 p.m. to put out a structure fire on Route J in northern Pettis County. Firemen were on scene for about two hours. No dollar figure was given, but the structure reportedly suffered extensive damage. It was determined the fire was electrical in nature.
No injuries were reported from any of the scenes.
