A resident of the state of Ohio has been charged with several drug-related felonies after authorities allegedly found 100 pounds of marijuana during a vehicle search last week in Cooper County.
According to a probable-cause statement, on January 26, Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle reportedly following too closely to another vehicle near the 105 mile marker of I-70.
During the traffic stop, troopers spoke with the driver, 22-year-old Nicholas Anderson, of Cincinnati, OH, and reportedly detected the odor of raw marijuana. A probable-cause search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered five duffle bags each filled with vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana, which had a total weight of approximately 100 pounds.
Online court documents say Anderson has been charged with two Class B Felonies for First and Second-Degree Trafficking of Drugs or Attempt and a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid, as well as a two misdemeanors for a driving infraction and drug paraphernalia possession. Bond has not yet been set.
Anderson’ initial hearing at Cooper County Circuit Court in Boonville is pending.
