A traffic stop and the detection of the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle led authorities to do a probable-cause search of a vehicle, and felony charges have been filed against two of the vehicle’s occupants.
According to a probable-cause statement, during the search on Friday, January 26, authorities allegedly found a digital scale with white powdery residue on it (field tested for cocaine); a small amount of marijuana; rolling papers; a metal scraper with marijuana residue on it; a glass container with marijuana THC in it; and other drug-related items. Each individual who was charged also allegedly had cocaine on their person.
According to online court documents, warrants have been issued, and Javion Whitley, of Fayette, and Kevin Carmack, of Glasgow, each has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana. Bond for each subject has been set at $10,000 cash only.
The initial hearing for each man is pending at Howard County Circuit Court in Fayette.
