A Florida resident was killed in a rollover traffic crash in Lafayette County on Monday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by 57-year-old Alfredo Capote, of Miami, reportedly began to slide, traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Capote, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected out of the vehicle.
Capote reportedly was transported by Higginsville E.M.S. to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, where he was pronounced deceased by a doctor at 4:26 p.m. A passenger in the vehicle, 58-year-old David Valasquez, of Grand Island, Nebraska, reportedly was transported by Higginsville E.M.S. to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. at the 49.8 mile marker on I-70.
