The Marshall City Council was asked to approve the purchase of a couple of vehicles for city departments during its meeting on Monday, February 5.
Police Chief Mike Donnell said bids were received from the three local dealers, and his recommendation was to approve the purchase of a 2018 Ford Taurus for just under $25,000 from Elmer Hare Ford Sales in Marshall. The council approved his recommendation.
Municipal Services Director Bill Anderson asked for the council to consider the approval of a heavy-duty truck with a snowplow and a sand/salt rig. He said it will replace one that’s been taken out of service because it’s not safe to drive.

Anderson said the final cost will be more than $150,000.

The council approved Anderson’s request.
Anderson said it will take about six to nine months for the city to receive the vehicle, which should be ready to go for next winter.
