A Slater man who has been charged with multiple felonies relating to a reported domestic disturbance and standoff with law enforcement on May 28, 2017, is due in court this week.
According to online court documents, 30-year-old Charles Townsend Jr. has been charged with two counts of Class A Felony for Assault or Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Causing Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim; a Class B Felony for Assault or Attempted Assault in the First Degree; Class E Felonies for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting and Resisting or Interfering with an Arrest for a Felony; and three counts of an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action.
Court documents also say Townsend entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on July 24. He is due for a plea/trial-setting hearing at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, at Saline County Circuit Court in Marshall.
