A water leak found on the property formerly known as the Marshall Habilitation Center lead to a high utility bill for Marshall Public Schools and that issue was discussed during the MMU Board of Public works meeting on Thursday, February 15.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Terry Lorenz details discrepancies of recent water usage due to the leak and asked the board for assistance.
Dr. Lorenz added the school was informed all water valves not being used for the Spainhower Building were shut off, and signs of the leak was detected by a good samartian who informed him of the situation.
Water Distribution Director Grant Piper said the valve causing the leak was eventually found and was shut off.
General Manager Kyle Gibbs gives another reason other than the leak to help the district with the water portion of the utility bill.
The board decided to forgive the overcharge due to the leak and charged the district its monthly average water use for the Spainhower Building.
