An area high-school student is facing a felony charge after he allegedly made a terroristic threat against a school district’s personnel and students.
According to a probable-cause statement, 17-year-old Ira Todd reportedly threatened to “shoot-up” Smith-Cotton High School. Todd allegedly made the threats over a two-day period. Four students reportedly came forward and wrote statements regarding the matter.
On Thursday, February 15, the school’s principal reportedly talked to Todd, who allegedly admitted he made the threats but explained he wasn’t serious. However, he allegedly indicated to the principal that the principal was on the top five of his list of people he wanted to kill at the school.
Online court documents say Todd has been charged with a Class E Felony for a Terroristic Threat in the Second Degree. Bond has been set at $20,000 cash or surety.
Todd reportedly appeared via video in custody for his arraignment hearing on Tuesday, February 20. His cause has been continued for another hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at Pettis County Circuit Court in Sedalia.
