Two weeks prior to the Municipal Election, Marshall residents will have their chance to meet and hear from the candidates running for city council and the school board at an event.
At the meeting of the city council on Tuesday, February 20, City Administrator David Haugland announced a candidate forum tentatively will be held, which also is scheduled to include information about the proposed one-half cent sales-tax proposal for economic development in Saline County.

According to a release from Saline County Clerk Debbie Russell, incumbents Ron Ott and Kirk Arends will face opposition for their council seats. Ott is being challenged by Jim Steinmetz in Ward 1 and Arends by Teresa Maples Hoey and Larry Godsey in Ward 2– each for a two-year term. Ward 3 and 4 Councilmen– Dan Brandt and Rudy Reyes– are running unopposed.
Running for two spots on the Marshall School Board are: Matthew Smith, Shannon Johnson, Erin Williams and Bryon Jacques.
Voters will go to the polls to cast their ballots on Tuesday, April 3.
