A preliminary hearing for a Lincoln man accused of killing an area resident last month is scheduled to be held in an area courtroom on Wednesday, February 28.
According to online court documents, 21-year-old William Heffernan has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the Second Degree; a Class E Felony for Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Felony Prosecution; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action for allegedly shooting to death 27-year-old Caleb Shephard at a mobile home park just outside the city limits of Lincoln on January 12.
Heffernan reportedly entered a plea of not guilty on January 16. His bond reportedly was reduced from $100,000 to $50,000 cash or surety by the court on February 6. His preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Benton County Circuit Court.
