Two Johnson County deputies were involved in a shootout and killed a suspect on Saturday.
According to a post on the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, just after 3 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence on NW 475 Road to investigate a reported shooting. When deputies arrived, they reportedly were fired upon by a suspect. The two shots reportedly broke the side window of the patrol car.
Later, the suspect reportedly fired more shots from another location inside the residence that struck the vehicle. The deputies reportedly exited their vehicle, took cover and returned fire, mortally wounding the suspect.
The deputies were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries from flying glass.
Investigation into the incident reportedly has been handed over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.
UPDATE: On Sunday, an updated post on Facebook says the suspect has been identified as 70-year-old Michael McEntee, of Centerview. An autospy is scheduled to be conducted at 2:25 p.m. on Monday, March 5.
