A warrant has been issued, and a Sedalia resident has been charged with a couple of felonies for allegedly not returning a vehicle to its owner in a timely manner and resisting arrest. The charges were filed after a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle on March 1.
According to a probable-cause statement, Carla Renee Meek reportedly borrowed a vehicle to help another person move on February 21. Meek reportedly told the officer she was in the process of returning the vehicle when she was stopped. The report also says Meek allegedly was “flipping out and pulling away” from the officer when she was being taken into custody.
Online court documents say Meek has been charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Vehicle in the First Degree; a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest; and a driving-related misdemeanor. Bond has been set at $6,300 cash or surety, with unspecified special conditions.
Meek’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
