The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Conservation Federation of Missouri (CFM) want to thank those who donated about 290,000 pounds of venison to Share the Harvest program this past deer season.
According to a news release, the donated deer meat will help feed hungry Missourians all around the state, and this season’s total included nearly 5,600 whole deer. Missouri hunters donated just under 200,000 pounds of venison last year.
Since the program was started in 1992, Share the Harvest has provided nearly 4 million pounds of venison to Missourians.
