Marshall fire fighters were toned out to a couple of blazes, including one at a feed supply plant, on Thursday, March 8.
According to a spokesperson for the department, less than 30 minutes after getting back from dousing a natural-cover fire on a levee in the Missouri River bottoms near Miami, fire fighters were toned out at 9:18 p.m. to put out a fire at Kent Feeds at 2855 West Arrow Street.
Upon arrival, fire fighters noted heavy smoke showing from the facility. The fire reportedly was contained to the seed-cooling unit. Fire fighters gained entry to the unit and extinguished the blaze. The fire was deemed under control at 10:15 p.m. Fire fighters were back in quarters at 11:19 p.m.
The fire reportedly did about $50,000 worth of damage to the piece of conveyor machinery.
